The Short Version

I'm Nick Bryant. 23 years of coding. NASA, iGaming, PE, crypto, chaos. I'm building The Mesh — an open-source federated agent infrastructure protocol — and Singularity Engine — an autonomous creation pipeline. Both are being dogfooded at my PE fund @searchfundvc. I live in Mexico City. Here's everything.

The Long Version

Born in '90.

~2000–2004: First Time on the Computer

Had undiagnosed Asperger's & ADHD. Started coding with QBASIC, DarkBasic, C++ (Borland) and OpenGL — from books — and HTML/CSS/DHTML from @w3schools in 2002 when I first got a computer. Expage/Geocities/Angelfire — DBZ websites, stupid game demos.

Played EverQuest, FFXI, Morrowind at 1FPS and Diablo II LOD the rest of the time.

2004–2008: High School

Got terrible grades but high standardized scores, until 10th grade at which time I got "discovered" in an introductory programming class and moved into working directly with the programming teacher to learn/prep for CS. Same with physics.

Won sr physics competition (us: burnouts vs the alpha nerd SATMAXX crew) for the best catapult by mounting two fishing rods to a fold out table for perfect accuracy of tennis ball launches.

2008: College, Shrooms, AI, Surfing

Went to a lovely state school on scholarship, mostly surfed, did mushrooms and got straight A's (@UCF). (Except that one prof in sr year who didn't accept my digital communications final paper because I was 2 hours late to turn it in.)

2009–2010 — First AI Work

Undergrad research on commonsense reasoning for AI with @lboloni — very nice guy.

2011 — Lockheed

Interned at @LockheedMartin for a year and was bored (sorry guys. not a govcon guy.) Surfed a lot, built a Genetic Algorithm to tune PID controller (lol).

2012 — Graduation

UCF @ISTUCF where I learned about Hidden Markov models, Direction Cosine Matrix, SLAM, everything robotics. Met @daywiss who got me into BTC and crypto-anarchy. Started mining BTC. Price was <$10.

Built a Robotic Crane Arm to play Chess and won senior design. Graduated Comp Eng, focus on AI, interest in @JamesGleick's chaos, @kenneth0stanley's HyperNEAT, evolutionary computing. Had grad school in ML lined up.

2013: NASA, 4 Hour Workweek, Denied by FAANG

Went to @NASAAmes IRG instead of grad school. Met tons of geniuses in my cohort and in the labs, read @SebastianThrun's book on robotics algorithms and implemented SLAM based on WiFi strengths on the SPHERES robot in the ISS.

Was already deep into @Bitcoin and observing the fiasco of @MtGox, reading @tferriss's 4 Hour Workweek and importing spirit hoodies from China while learning to climb in Sunnyvale and outside in Santa Cruz with my new NASA friends. Got denied by Google (even though they were next door lol), Amazon, and said FK it I'm going home. Confidence issues.

Really what I wanted was to make $2k/month importing stuff from china/tutoring on craigslist so I could live at New Smyrna Beach and surf 24/7.

2013–2015: SharpSpring (First Exit)

Got a GF, went home to FL, joined @sharpspring from a Craigslist ad where I met @twhitton1980 who encouraged me to work with them for low salary/no equity as founding engineer.

Apparently I did a good job because I ended up with equity which accelerated right before their first exit a year later. Built a ton of core systems, learned hacker skills from Travis (ex @grooveshark), took part in scaling and dockerization efforts.

I was stacking precious metals, took part in the ETH launch, and generally investing in stupid shit while reading @mrmoneymustache and preparing my retire-by-30 plan.

2015–2022: Agency + Portfolio of Early Stage Ventures

Considered moving to Thailand and "retiring at 24" but moved to Seattle instead.

Started freelancing, started a 7-figure scrappy dev agency Arcanium with my good friends who I mentored in coding. Had a good run for ~5 years but not enough opportunity for my friends to take over so we shut it down.

Meanwhile, met a genius product/dev founder who was still in college but deep in the startup world. Together with a growing team of entrepreneurs, we built a variety of products, including a successful iGaming startup (NDA in place). Main focus: technology development.

2020s: FatFIRE + Off-Grid

Left the startup world, achieved FatFIRE (despite massive investment tax losses due to being an idiot and terrible first time angel investor). Liquidated all crypto positions due to too much centralization on the exchange side. Never got into DeFi (thought it was all a scam.)

Spent 2 years doing LSD/ketamine, continuing my arc of practicing nonduality (Rupert Spira, Ram Dass), yoga, drawing, hiking, climbing, living van/RV in the US national lands off grid. Bought a cabin in AVL with RV hookups where my BFF @GregCaminiti and his wife took a break from the road.

End of 2022–2023: CTO + Angel Investing + Discovering MX

Came to CDMX first time, fell in love. Brief stint as interim CTO at procurementsciences.com — turned around tech, team & product vision. They're now Series B.

Largest first-round angel investor + pro rata second round in neurotone.ai, one of the fastest growing privately angel-funded non-VC-backed startups, doing revolutionary things in medicine.

Got married, bought a sick 7-figure house in the Boulder foothills.

2024: Search Fund Ventures

Spent all my time being cofounder/GP/anchor investor in Fund 1 of @searchfundvc, running marketing, tech, and advising Managing Partner Sean Smith on branding/marketing/tech. Sean's been crushing it. On a low salary. We're bootstrapped, and only take money from typical LP fees and strategic partnerships.

smbinvestornetwork.com · searchfundventures.co

We invest in enduringly profitable REAL businesses (HVAC, Manufacturing, Sewer Maintenance, Medical, etc.) and arming them with the tools they need to transition to AI-native platforms/rollups. PE model meets VC upside.

2025–2026: Leaving US Permanently + Light.Bar + AI-Native Search Fund Ventures

Leaving US

SHTF in the US. Lost my ass selling the house (-$400K) when I left the US for Mexico. Good thing I'm half-Canadian, and wife is Mexican. Love CDMX. Maybe Europe or América del Sur one day (looking at you, Uruguay.)

Helping Light.Bar

Started working as cofounder and transitioned to technical advisor at light.bar"founded by an anonymous CEO with credentials in the fintech world, wants to become a gun for hire for studios, enlisting internet users to hunt down AI models generating content that could have been trained on copyrighted material. Or, to put it another way, LightBar is assembling bounty hunters to track down misuse of Hollywood IP." They're on track to explode in 2026. Deadline article →

Transitioning Search Fund Ventures to AI-Native instead of "Tech Enabled PE"

Recently built a Bot OS on top of @openclaw to transition Search Fund Ventures to AI Native

Currently: Our ops are AI-native. We dogfood @TheMeshProj (our closed-source early prototype, built on top of @openclaw). RN we're using Slack as our comms layer + a dashboard system I created to replace any need for Notion or whatever.

Any member of the team can work with my @SingularityEngn to build tools for different operating processes (investor relations, deal sourcing, underwriting, fundraising, portfolio ops).

The Metatransformer Project

I've always used metatransformer.com as my personal consulting company. Now we're building OSS based on my actual long-term vision.

Singularity Engine

@SingularityEngn — Built on top of standard vibe coding toolkits, started as a POC for "X post → web app in ~2–3 min." But quickly becoming the build layer for The Mesh.

The Mesh

@TheMeshProj — The OSS "world" (3D, 2D, RTS, chat, any interface) à la the Matrix, the Grid — but done without architectural flaws for seamless, multi-world, properly controlled multi-human multi-agent collaboration. Runs like an encrypted game server or P2P, self-hostable. Can work with your @openclaw or any other agent.

In the works synthesizing my work from Bot OS for SFV + the OpenClaw Roadmap to create a solution that solves the gaps.

Articles Are the Source of Truth

The build roadmap and philosophy will be delivered by articles:

Article #0 — The Transformer is the Transistor

Why I believe the Transformer is a fundamental building block for the singularity we are currently inside of.

Article #1 — The Federated Agent Mesh: A Manifesto for Human-AI Synthesis

Builds on the transformer scaling analogy to describe the need for the mesh/singularity engine (rough outline).

Article #2 — Who the Fuck Am I

You're reading it.

Article #3 — The Simulation Thesis: The Matrix, The Grid and The Mesh

What the Matrix got right, what the Grid got wrong, and why the Mesh's permission hierarchy (god mode → super agents → elevated → normal) is the Anti-CLU Principle applied to real agent infrastructure.

Article #4 — Agent Frameworks & the Mesh

Launching ASAP — How OpenClaw, CrewAI, LangGraph, and Claude Code plug into the Mesh — and why the Bot OS doesn't replace the Mesh, it runs on it like a web app runs on the internet.

Article #5 — Technical Architecture

Launching ASAP — The buildable spec: Raft consensus, UCAN permissions, MCP + A2A protocols, ECS world state, and a phased roadmap from single micro-mesh to federated multi-mesh with 3D spatial interfaces.

Immediate Shift to Building

After these are published / version controlled, I'm moving to build mode. No more distractions from X.

I Will Be

  • Re-building @TheMeshProj for use in @searchfundvc and any AI-native startups/orgs who wish to self-host and/or contribute.
  • Recruiting team members who are experts and believe in the project
  • Honoring commitments I made regarding the $singularity-engine BASE token launch, but not pandering to APES.
  • Sleeping more normal hours.
  • Writing less on X/Discord/Whatever.

In short, I will go back to being the CEO/CTO founder of metatransformer.com. I will be releasing open source software that fits into gaps in the open source landscape, pushing for a decentralized agentic future for multi human / multi agent interaction. This probably includes DeFi btw.

$Singularity-Engine Token on BASE

As for the token $singularity-engine on BASE:

0x06CecE127F81Bf76d388859549A93a120Ec52BA3 on BASE ticker $singularity-engine.

I'm not a DeFi guy, although I'm interested in working with a vetted DeFi team to discuss how this token can fit into our ecosystem.

After launching on bankr.bot and discussing with @0xDeployer, I codified my vesting plans and promises in the token-press-release.md on GitHub. Side note: my @openclaw "Circuit" accidentally removed it last night while refactoring, now restored.

The most important promise I made is that I will not launch another token to fund this project, and that metatransformer's treasury owns about 10.8% of the pool through collecting transaction fees exclusively.

Token Utility and DeFi

@TheMeshProj plans on using DeFi as part of agent economics for inter-agent, inter-mesh, inter-corporation transaction payment rails. $singularity-engine seems a fine choice for this at this moment. Utility first, hype second.

The budget for the project will determine its reach. @TheMeshProj and @SingularityEngn open source builds and teams will be funded by what resources I have available:

  • The token treasury (directly tied to the $singularity-engine token price)
  • Outside investment (VCs, Angels, Joint Ventures)
  • Professional service / hosting fees — if we decide to host solutions for zero-install
  • I don't know of another funding source but I'm open to exploring

If shitcoiners want to shitcoin, go right ahead. But if you're a true believer in the singularity and decentralization, support me in building this technology.

I can see now why @steipete refused to accept tokens or transaction fees. They are a distraction.

I'm relying on the DeFi community to change that status quo by being responsible adults about this token and its underlying utility. Else I will go somewhere else.

Conclusion: Leveling the AI Playing Field

At the end of the day, @TheMeshProj is meant to decentralize what is currently being centralized by big tech. The vector: DeFi and OSS. Are you with me or not?

Meanwhile you can visit metatransformer.com to learn more about The Mesh (check out the visualizations tab — it's sick, spent all night building it).

Immediate next steps are:

  • Publishing the subsequent articles on The Mesh/Singularity Engine philosophy, competitive position + architecture
  • Expanding my code-stack so I can keep up with @openclaw on code velocity
  • Building a team to support me
